Did you know ETFs and mutual funds together own only about 1/4 of the stock mkt. Here's a nice look at the historical ownership of the US stock mkt. ETFs expanding share a bit but still under 10%. Households and foreign investors together own about 60%. This, along with a couple other 'eye test' reasons, is why I tend not to worry about passive or ETFs distorting markets via @JSeyff
