My splurging $500 got us less than what $150 in a decent country would: I was ashamed of my country, culture, and peers, because this goes beyond the money - our $500/night did not buy us decency in Paris. Seems like the bare minimum decency here is approaching 4 figs a night I'm a French yes, but I'm not retarded. When I propose to her, I'll not bring her to Paris, the supposed city of love. I'll bring her to Moscow where I can arrange with the local staff an amazing moment, because they actually care if I have a nice stay and spend a good time in their country. Or maybe Bali. Or Tokyo.
